V.E.N.E.R.E. Symposium – Novel Experimental Models in Biomedical Research

On 21 September 2026, the V.E.N.E.R.E. Symposium – “Novel Experimental Models in Biomedical Research” was held at the historic Sala dei Notari in Perugia.

The symposium brought together faculty members, researchers, and PhD students to promote scientific discussion and exchange on innovative experimental models and their applications in biomedical research.

The scientific programme was structured into four sessions, each opened by an invited expert:

  • Flavio Rizzolio – Ca’ Foscari University of Venice
  • Achille Anselmo – San Raffaele Hospital, Milan
  • Sovan Sarkar – University of Birmingham
  • Giorgio Giardina – Sapienza University of Rome

The event also featured contributions from faculty members and PhD students of the Department of Medicine and Surgery, University of Perugia, providing an opportunity to present ongoing research activities and foster scientific exchange among researchers working in different areas of biomedical research.

Best Presentation Awards

A significant part of the symposium was dedicated to the scientific contributions of the PhD students. At the conclusion of the four sessions, one Best Presentation Award was assigned for each session.

The awards were presented to:

  • Alessandro Pinzi
  • Daniele Busti
  • Dominga Manfredelli
  • Celine Alami

The recognition highlights the quality of the research presented by the PhD students and their active contribution to the scientific activities of the Department.

The PhD Programme in Medicine and Experimental Therapies congratulates all the award recipients and all the PhD students who contributed to the symposium, and extends its appreciation to the invited speakers, faculty members, researchers, and organizers for their valuable participation in this scientific initiative.

The V.E.N.E.R.E. Symposium represents an important opportunity to strengthen scientific collaboration, encourage interdisciplinary exchange, and support the development of the next generation of researchers in biomedical sciences.
